Let me ask you something honest.
When someone asks how you’re doing — what do you actually say?
Most men have an answer ready before the question is finished.
“I’m good.” “Blessed.” “Can’t complain.”
And maybe you are good. But maybe — if we’re being real — you haven’t stopped long enough to even know.
We were raised to handle it. Fix it. Push through it.
Feelings were for later. Vulnerability was for someone else.
So we built something. A version of ourselves that could hold it together in public, even when everything private was unraveling.
We called it strength. God calls it a mask.
Here’s what I’ve learned in scripture: the men God used most were the ones who stopped pretending in His presence.
David cried out. Job argued. Elijah collapsed under a tree and said “I’ve had enough.”
Peter wept bitterly. And God met every single one of them — not when they had it together, but when they finally admitted they didn’t.
God is not impressed by your performance.
He already knows what’s underneath it.
The question is whether you’re ready to let it go.
Taking the mask off isn’t the end of your strength.
It’s the beginning of real ones.
Come as you are this Sunday. We’re continuing Built Differently — and this week, we’re going there.
